I’ve been working away on Twine-based IF for the most part recently, hence the silence on this blog. The latest Certain Death release was Overton — a little free setting that I plan to expand with adventures when the IF bug wears off later this year — but the latest thing on DrivethruRPG with my name on it is Gods and Monsters, a Fate World I wrote for Evil Hat.

Even if you’re not sold based on my writing, the art is fantastic. I mean, get a load of this:

Gloria’s an NPC in the sample adventure.

And that’s not even the best one!

There’s a discussion currently going on over at RPG.net about rules clarifications here, and the changes from that are going to be incorporated into the pdf soon. (The update will be free if you’ve already bought the pdf, so don’t let impending changes put you off.)

  1. This looks like a great game, and I purchased it on that basis. However, I’m not a Fate player, and so much of the game seems rather intimidating. Do you have any hints for helping me understand it a little better?

    Thanks,

    Guy Hoyle

    • Sorry about the delayed reply – this site gets so much spam that genuine comments often vanish into the ether.

If you’re after a greater understanding of how Fate works, I’d recommend hitting up rpg.net – they’ve got a plethora of Fate experts who are way better at explaining new concepts than I am – or perhaps reading or listening to some actual play reports. Again, rpg.net has a huge archive of actual play which certainly includes some Fate games somewhere, and for podcast APs I’m a fan of Six Feats Under – they do Breakfast Cult, which is a Fate game, here.

      Hope that helps!
